Hundreds of Pieces, Thousands of Stitches.
They said “you’d eventually turn to the machine.” That was 30+ years ago. And they were wrong. If I thought thru the whole process of completing a king size quilt by hand I would have probably never have started but in the vein of mindfulness I approach each one step by step, thinking only of the moment. Choosing fabrics from my 40 years worth of fabric collected from so many places is my favorite part of the process. Like finding colors in my paintings that might not initially seem to meld, I love finding pieces that at first glance might not seem to match but they do in an out of the box unexpected way. The best thing about working by hand is that you can take it with you. Makes waiting for things such as flights or doctors an opportunity not a nuisance. These will always be one of a kind pieces!
